This picture was taken this morning at the Grand-Saint-Bernard Pass, in Valais (Switzerland). In the background, you can see some of the buildings belonging to the Saint-Bernard hospice, which has been keeping this area for almost a thousand years. The big tourist attraction here, if you aren’t a catholic pilgrin are naturally, the Saint-Bernard dogs, who used to be employed as rescue and guiding dogs in Winter by the chanoines who were living at the hospice. Nowadays, they’ll be content to simply pose with you for a nice picture and take you for a walk (because, if you aren’t an experienced animal professional, you’ll have a hard time giving a walk to these little monsters who weight between 70 and 100kg when they are grown-up).

Well, I haven’t seen taken pictures of these two Roman columns in Nyon for a while now. Today light was really nice thanks to the South wind, called Foehn, which has been blowing for two days now.  Well, that was one of my study breaks!

After a nice day of rain pouring, which stabilized the temperature to a normal 25oC for this season and washed away all the pollens, I have had a really nice and peaceful day of work. No sneezing, no itching in the nose, no burning eyes and palat. This rain was a true blessing! According to the weather broadcast, we should have some more intermittent rains these next few days. I hope these will definitely clean up the air from gramineous pollens, so that I can start enjoying the Summer like everyone else who doesn’t have allergies.

At long, long last, it rained! I know that the month of May has been much colder and wet than it should have been, but then, as if to compensate for this unusual weather, the climate hit us with a full heatwave, with the sun blazing on our roof day, after day, after day, without a drop! Thus, the temperature has been rising continuously, transforming our apartment into a sort of oven, day and night. But now, thanks to this blessed rain, it just feels great!

This picture was taken last November, early in the morning, after some night rain falls. I guess, I was really lucky to get such a nice frame and colours. I love it and couldn’t help publishing it here, as today, I haven’t taken any pictures!

This was taken at the end of the afternoon, last Thursday, after several really rainy days. This month of June has been particularly damp and farmers are now fearing for the coming harvest of strawberries and several types of vegetables.

This photo was taken upon my returning home around 6:00pm. I really like this kind of weather, when the sun pierces from times to times through the heavy clouds and rain, giving out this very particular light. It makes every details in the landscape stand out clearly and shiny. This is also the perfect weather for studying, so I’m back to preparing my first fieldwork for my Ph.D.
